HomeGround provides high quality services to thousands of individuals and families who are experiencing, or at-risk of, homelessness. We also work to improve homelessness policies and systems through partnerships, research and advocacy. What we do makes a difference to the lives of others. How many people does HomeGround employ?
HomeGround currently employs over 150 staff members across six offices.
Where does your funding come from?
The majority of HomeGround funding comes from the Victorian Government with a smaller amount coming from the Federal Government and local councils. Private donors and philanthropy also support HomeGround.
Do you offer volunteer opportunities?
Unfortunately HomeGround does not currently have the capacity to support volunteers. HomeGround does offer student placements and a limited internship program. I�ve applied for a position, what happens now?
After the position you have applied for has closed, all applications will be reviewed and forwarded to the hiring manager. If you have been shortlisted for an interview we will be in touch as soon as possible to arrange a mutually convenient time to meet. If you are not successful, we will send you an email once we have appointed someone to the position.
As a support worker will I feel safe?
As is the case with anyone in crisis, people experiencing homelessness sometimes experience a range of emotions including stress, anxiety and anger. HomeGround has put in place a set of procedures to ensure the safety and security of our staff at all times inside the office and while on the road.
Will I be given support or counselling if I want it?
Yes, all HomeGround staff and their immediate families have access to the Employee Assistance Program for confidential counselling and support. You will also have regular supervision and team meetings with your supervisor/manager/team.
Is HomeGround environmentally conscious?
We are continually making changes to operate in a more environmentally friendly way. These initiatives include, recycling, using environmentally friendly cars, internal sustainability committee, and even a worm farm at our St Kilda office.
What will my first week be like?
At HomeGround you will not be thrown in the deep end. A two-week induction is mandatory for all new staff members. Instead of your normal workload, you will meet with various staff members across all the organisation to get to know everyone who you need to know and to get your bearings.
